Ecurie Ecosse and Perth Racecourse

Susan Morrison visits Perth Racecourse to hear about its 400-year history, plus she celebrates the sixtieth anniversary of Ecurie Ecosse's historic win at Le Mans.

Comedian and history enthusiast Susan Morrison crosses the centuries in our new Scottish History series.

She hears how, 60 years ago, Ecurie Ecosse, a small racing team from Edinburgh went to Le Mans, took on all the bigger and much better funded teams and beat them all. She reveals why The Stone of Destiny has become pivotal in Perth's bid for UK City of Culture 2021 and gallops through 400 years of history at Perth Racecourse. Meanwhile, as part of our World War One at 91热爆 strand, Edi Stark commemorates the centenary of Wilfred Owen's stay in Edinburgh.
