Episode 1
Series following fraud investigators. In Croydon, council investigators try to establish the identity of a woman they have under arrest.
Britain on the Fiddle follows fraud investigators as they build cases against those they believe are cheating the system. Cases range from an unrepentant cigarette smuggler to a fraudster who has so many identities investigators aren't sure who they have under arrest.
A cigarette smuggler thinks he should be knighted for his services to the country but instead he's being pursued for the money he made by dodging duty on tobacco. In Croydon, council investigators try to establish the identity of a woman they have under arrest. Three passports, three National Insurance numbers and over 拢20,000 are found at her home address. In Hillingdon, the council attempts to keep pace with 'double dippers' - EU passport holders who claim benefits in the UK while living and working abroad.
