T-Shirt Day 2016
Steve Lamacq rounds of Wear Your Old Band T-Shirt to Work Day 2016 by announcing the winner of the Pixies T-shirt design competition.
91热爆 Radio 6 Music's 'Wear Your Old Band T-Shirt To Work Day' returns for its ninth year. Steve culminates the day by announcing the winner of the Pixies T-Shirt design competition.
Pixies have said: "It's great to be a part of Steve Lamacq's 'Wear Your Old Band T Shirt To Work Day' this year. Pixies t-shirts have always been worn with pride by our loyal fans. We're very excited to see what designs the 91热爆 Radio 6 Music audience come up with for us to wear."
Steve Lamacq said: "T-Shirt Day has become a special moment in the 6 Music year. It's a chance to flaunt our old shirts and share the stories that surround them. In some ways they're like rock and roll medals, worn to mark all those crazy, brilliant nights out we've had, or the bands we've fallen in love with and followed. And rather than let the shirts sit idle and neglected in a drawer or a box in the loft, T-Shirt Day gives everyone an excuse to dig them out and wear them to work. Last year was the biggest T-Shirt Day yet with thousands of listeners getting involved and sending us pictures of the shirts they were wearing. And once again, we're going to be throwing out the playlist for the day and playing nothing but music by the artists who appear on their shirts."
Every year since Steve Lamacq launched the campaign back in 2007, 6 Music - which with 2.34m listeners has broken its audience record for the fifth time in a row (RAJARs, Qu.3, 2016) - has invited its listeners to dig out their most treasured tees, whether old or new, and wear their love for their favourite band or artist on their chest for the day. On Friday 25 November Steve calls out for music-lovers around the UK to wear their fave band t-shirt with pride wherever they are and whatever they're doing and to send in their pictures via email, or post on Twitter and Instagram using #TShirtDay.
Last year, famous faces including Kate Moss, Simon Pegg, Debbie Harry, AC/DC and Pete Townsend took part in the day sharing images of themselves wearing their most coveted band tee, along with thousands of listeners.
