A letter from the Muslim Women's Network UK has said the Government's ongoing Sharia council inquiries risk treating Muslim women like "political footballs". They claim religious conservatives deny that some women can be subject to discrimination in a Sharia court, while activists opposed to the councils "conflate misogyny and patriarchy with extremism", which can lead to Islamophobia.
