The London Philharmonic Orchestra's new season opens with a concert of Debussy, Szymanowski and Bart贸k. At the dawn of the 20th century Debussy's Pr茅lude 脿 l'apr猫s-midi d'un faune released a flood-tide of musical colour. Nicola Benedetti performs both of Szymanowski's violin concertos, then the full orchestra goes for broke as it enters the neon-lit fantasy-world of Bart贸k's The Miraculous Mandarin: music that's brutal, brilliant and utterly breathtaking.
