Micky Dolenz is one of pop music's legendary characters. Originally a child actor - his breakthrough role was as Corky in the TV series "Circus Boy" - he was cast as a Monkee in 1966 and eventually morphed into an accomplished singer & musician.
Dolenz sang the majority of the Monkees hits and fell foul of British censors in 1967 when his song Randy Scouse Git - inspired by the TV series Till Death Us Do Part - had to be renamed "Alternate Title" ! He married a Top Of The Pops presenter, was a close friend of the Beatles and later became an acclaimed TV director and the man behind the hugely popular series Metal Mickey.
The Monkees are currently celebrating their 50th anniversary with a new album featuring songs written by Noel Gallagher & Paul Weller among others.
