In this special two-part Trusadh, we visit the busy hub that is Lewis Crofters - an agricultural cooperative that has been serving local crofters for close to 60 years, and one of the busiest shops in Lewis and Harris.
With a population of over 20,000 people between both islands, the shop is very much in demand, with products varying from kitchen essentials to outdoor clothing, and from fencing to all types of feed for the croft! We follow the staff both in the shop and on the road.
Amongst the regulars in the shop, the students from Macaulay College, a community interest company that helps those with additional social and educational requirements. They visit the shop every week for food for their animals, and seed for their polytunnels.
Meanwhile, John Murdo Matheson clocks up the miles in the lorry as he delivers feed to the customers. We also see a special visitor making an appearance in the shop at their busiest time.
