The Sugarhill Gang, best known for their big hit 'Rapper's Delight', formed in 1979. The record sold several million copies worldwide and helped establish rap as the genre it is today.

Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were one of the first rap posses, responsible for massive tunes including 'The Message', 'Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel' and 'White Lines'.
