Bruce MacGregor talks to Aidan Moffat and director Paul Fegan about their new film, Where You're Meant to Be, which charts Aidan's journey through Scottish folk ballads.
Bruce speaks to Indie legend Aidan Moffat and Director Paul Fegan about their new film 'Where You're Meant To Be' which charts Aidan's journey into Scottish folk ballads. Aidan reworks traditional songs which have been handed down from generation to generation and gives them a contemporary - often filthy and bawdy - twist. His memorable encounter with tradition bearer Sheila Stewart of the Stewarts of Blair travelling family leaves a lasting impression.
And after eight, another force of nature joins Bruce. Greg Lawson is originally a classical violinist and plays in the 91热爆 Scottish Symphony Orchestra. But a lifetime's interest in folk music has led him to the band Moishe's Bagel and more recently an expansive re-working of Martyn Bennett's final album GRIT. This was performed to great acclaim by the GRIT Orchestra at Celtic Connections in 2015 and he won a Scottish Trad Award for the staging of this event last year. We hear about his musical influences and plans for the future.
