Bollywood director Shekhar Kapur talks about his film detailing Shakespeare's twenties, his arrival in London and his impact on the 16th-century scene.

The Bollywood director talks about his new drama chronicling the 20s of William Shakespeare's life and in particular focusing on his arrival and impact on the 16th century London scene. Shekhar Kapur is best known for his films 'Elizabeth' and 'The Golden Age' and Bollywood films such as Mr India and Bandit Queen. Noreen chats to the esteemed director as part of the month long 91热爆 Shakespeare Lives festival marking 400 years since the Bard's death. The digital and online offering enables audiences in the UK and around the world to experience, in one place, a remarkable collection showcasing the creative range of the Bard's work and its reinterpretation by artists in all art forms. Shakespeare's Globe, the British Film Institute, the Royal Shakespeare Company, Hay Festivals and the Royal Opera House have come together with the 91热爆 and the British Council to create this unique and pioneering partnership, which was launched with Shakespeare Day Live, a live stream on 22nd and 23rd April 2016 to coincide with the 400th anniversary. Hosted and distributed by the 91热爆, the festival is supported by the British Council as a co-producer, enabling partner organisations to make their work available on this site.
