The Welsh Government is being urged to re-think its policy of giving prescriptions to people who are gluten intolerant.聽

Some politicians and doctors say the current system of prescribing gluten-free staple foods on the NHS to help those with coeliac disease聽is 鈥渁 poor use of time鈥�.

They聽advocate giving sufferers an annual allowance to help them cover the cost of the food instead.

But those with the condition聽warn against changing the current system, saying that prescriptions are a lifeline for sufferers 鈥� particularly those in rural or more deprived areas.
