Jonathan Edwards presents live coverage of the Great Edinburgh Cross Country from the scenic surroundings of Holyrood Park.
Mo Farah begins his Olympic year by leading the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team in his first cross country event for five years. Farah will use the 8km race as a key building block in his preparation for defending his 5,000m and 10,000m titles at Rio 2016.
Great Britain and Northern Ireland line up against the USA and Team Europe to contest the International Challenge in what promises to be hard-fought battle around the natural spectacle that is Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh.
Ross Millington and Callum Hawkins are also part of the men's senior GB team, while the women's team racing over 6km includes Gemma Steel and Kate Avery
In addition to the two senior races, the team competition also includes a junior men's 6km and junior women's 4km.
Points are awarded in the Junior races for the first 4 members of each team across the finish line, with 1 point awarded to 1st place, 2 to 2nd place down to 12 points for a 12th place finish.
For the senior races, the first 6 members of each team score, with the last scoring position (18th place) receiving 18 points.
The lowest overall team score wins each race, with those scores then added to the scores from the other races.
The team with the overall lowest score wins the Great Edinburgh Cross Country International Challenge.
Also featuring in the programme will be a mixed team relay event featuring a Scotland A and B team, England, Wales, Ireland, Great Britain, USA and Europe. Whilst not part of the International Challenge competition, the relay race will be keenly fought over 4 x 1km laps.
The Great Edinburgh Cross Country together with the mass participation race the Great Edinburgh Winter Run form the first leg of the 2016 Great Run Series, which also encompasses the Great Manchester, Great North, and Great Scottish Runs on the 91热爆 later in the year.
