Scottish League Cup 3rd round
Rangers v St Johnstone Live (kick-off 7.15pm)
Introduced by Rob Maclean
The Sportscene cameras are at Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow for live coverage of this third round League Cup match as Mark Warburton's new look Rangers face top-flight opposition in the shape of Tommy Wright's St Johnstone. Rangers have made an impressive start to their Championship campaign and also secured their place in tonight's match courtesy of a 5-0 win over Airdrieonians in the second round. However, this will be their toughest test so far as they face up to Premiership side St Johnstone, who ended last season impressively with another top six finish and European qualification. The teams met in the last eight of this competition last season, with the Govan side - then managed by Ally McCoist - winning 1-0 courtesy of a Lewis MacLeod 86th minute strike. Indeed, you have to go back nine meetings to March 2010 for the last St Johnstone win over Rangers, a 4-1 home victory in the Premier League. However, the last time the Saints left Ibrox on the winning side was back in November 2006 - also in the League Cup - their first win there since the early 70s.
Plus news from tonight's other third round matches.
