Sexual Harassment on French Public Transport

The French government have created a 12 point plan to stop sexual harassment on public transport after a poll revealed that 100% of women had been victims of unwanted sexual attention. The survey of 600 women, created by the French equality watchdog, Haut Conseil à L'égalité Entre Femmes et Hommes, exposed the high rate of harassment in France and highlighted that although it is commonplace, most women didn’t know that what they were experiencing was an offence.

In order to tackle this, the government has created a 12 point action plan, which includes a new text alert scheme to report incidents more quickly. Jane talks to Bénédicte Paviot, UK Correspondent for France 24, to find out more about the plan and how effective it will be.
