The World of FKA Twigs

Zane Lowe looks inside the world of FKA Twigs, who describes herself as 'an underground artist moonlighting as a pop star'.

27 year old Tahliah Barnett, otherwise known as FKA Twigs, has gone from music video backing dancer for the likes of Jessie J to Mercury and Brit-nominated artist in what seems like a very short amount of time. But in fact her journey to this point started many years ago, taking her from rural Gloucestershire to London to the USA and back to London via punk, dance and cabaret.

In this programme Zane Lowe sits down with Twigs to find out what really goes on in her world. He finds out how this seemingly underground artist has ended up being playlisted on Radio 1 and reaching the mainstream with a sound that can in no way be described as easy. As she puts it "I'm an underground artist moonlighting as a pop star".

We also hear from some of Twigs' collaborators - people that she trusts and who have helped to create her unique world of music, dance and visuals. They include her choreographer and old friend Aaron Sillis and her bandmates Sian and Tic. And we also pay a visit to krump crew Wet Wipez who have worked with Twigs for years, feature in her videos and stage shows, and who have helped raise the profile, along with Twigs, of krump in the UK.

Sit back and enjoy an atmospheric ride as we take you inside the world of FKA Twigs.
