Gingger Shankar joins Yasser on the phone live from LA. The grand-niece of the legendary Ravi Shankar, Gingger is part of one of the world's most acclaimed and influential musical families. And she's about to hit the mainstream in a major way on Katy Perry's upcoming single.

She's one of only 8 people to be accepted into Robert Redford's prestigious Sundance Institute Composer's Lab in 2008. She co-composed and performed on Mel Gibson's Oscar nominated film the Passion of the Christ, performed and wrote music for Charlie Wilson's War, sang on Jackie Chan's the Forbidden Kingdom and composed music for the Sundance award winning film, Circumstance. Her multimedia project, Himalaya Song, was chosen by Rolling Stone as one of the 10 Best Music Films at Sundance in 2012. Last year, her film 'Monsoon Shootout' directed by Amit Kumar premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.

Gingger is the only woman in the world to play the double violin, debuted as a soprano vocalist at Carnegie Hall in the opera Ainadamar and has worked with the likes of the Smashing Pumpkins, Trent Reznor and, most recently, Katy Perry.
