Despite never having visited the country, George Hobbs feels more Australian than British. He's determined to move his family to Perth - the city his great-grandfather helped build. And now, with his older children at university, the timing could finally be right for a move.
Wife Paula, however, is torn between granting her husband's wish to emigrate and staying close to her mum in the UK. A week living in Perth opens Paula's eyes to property and work prospects down under. But will that be enough to persuade her to break the close bonds she has at home?

UPDATE: Hobbs family
The draw of family back home proved too strong for the Hobbs to take the plunge and emigrate down under.聽 However George鈥檚 dream isn鈥檛 dead yet, and he plans to go out to Perth and do some locum work as a doctor for 6 weeks near the end of this year. The rest of the family then hope to fly out and join him to spend Christmas together in Australia.
Although the trip to Australia made Paula realise she wasn鈥檛 ready to emigrate just yet, she hasn鈥檛 closed the door completely on a move in the future.聽 George has gained a promotion to senior partner at his practice back home, and the family is waiting to see how this change affects them before making any future decisions.
