Cerys Matthews is joined by the Scottish broadcaster and author Fiona Ritchie; there's a live session from the brilliantly boisterous CC Smugglers; and singer Yasmine Hamdan shares some beautiful Arabic sounds.

Fiona discusses her recent book Wayfaring Stranger which follows an epic migration from Scotland and Ulster to Appalachia uncovering its musical legacy. The book was co-written with Doug Orr.

Throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, a steady stream of Scots migrated to Ulster and eventually onward across the Atlantic to resettle in the southern Appalachian region of the United States.

Their enduring legacy of music flows today from Appalachia back to Ireland and Scotland and around the globe.
