This week in Asian Network Presents . . . Noreen Khan charts the life and career of one of Pakistan's most beloved folk singers, Reshma. Dubbed the 'Nightingale of the Desert', Reshma was born into a gypsy family in Rajasthan but went on to become a voice that united both her birth country of India and the country she grew up in, Pakistan.

Known for her earthy, lamenting tones, Noreen will chart Reshma's life from her humble beginnings singing at shrines as a child, to be being spotted by a radio producer, to becoming the country's foremost folk songstress then crossing the border into India and recording what became her signature song, 'Lambi Judai', which brought her international acclaim.

A year after her passing, Noreen will play some of Reshma's most well-known songs as well as hearing from those who have been touched and inspired by her music in this one hour special.
