Rejoice! It's a Thursday night and the Wave Pictures are back. as is Rob Hughes and his Parallel Universe.

Tonight Marc welcomes back The Wave Pictures, who are currently touring songs from the tour only CD album Artistic Vice with Daniel Johnston. We last saw them in October 2013 shortly after the release of their twelfth album 'City Forgiveness' and earlier in 2013 for a special 2-day residency.

Formed in 1998, originally as Blind Summit, the band consists of David Tattersall (vocals and guitar), Franic Rozycki (bass guitar) and Jonny Helm (drums). In 2009 they acted as Daniel Johnston's backing band on a UK tour, in 2013 they performed 2 songs at a tribute night at which Daniel Johnston headlined, all of which has led nicely to the current tour of Artistic Vice.

The Guardian has described the Wave Pictures' work as "charming, witty pop songs shot through with Jonathan Richman's gawky glee and Suede's doomed provincial romanticism... They owe a certain debt to The Smiths, and Tattersall has Morrissey's knack of marrying the ridiculous and the sublime'
