Visitors to the National Eisteddfod always make a beeline for the Science Pavilion. And this year, with the event held in Llanelli, there's more of a buzz than ever!听 That's because one of the main displays inside is a project involving bees and plants. Presenter Adam Walton catches up with progress on the Welsh Barcode Scheme, a database of the DNA of all native plants in Wales, and discovers how it's helping in the search for a Welsh 'Manuka' honey.

He also visits a cosmology exhibition, with model telescopes on display, to talk to Peri Jones from Cardiff School of Physics and Astronomy about her work interpreting data and images from telescopes such as Herschel and Planck.

听

The Pavilion always offers hands-on experiments and displays for visitors and this year the big draw has been a flight simulator of an early bi-plane, the kind flown the pioneering aviators the James brothers from Narberth.

And at each Eisteddfod there are a series of science lectures.听 Adam talks to Dr. Trystan Watson from Swansea University, ahead of his lecture on Buildings as Powerhouses, looking at more efficient ways to heat homes in the future.
