Gary Lineker, Gabby Logan and Clare Balding present this star-studded event featuring appearances by some of the greatest names in world sport live from Leeds.
After another incredible year of sport, Gary Lineker, Gabby Logan and Clare Balding present the 2013 91热爆 Sports Personality of the Year, live from Leeds. In front of a 12,000 crowd and millions watching at home, this star-studded event features appearances by some of the greatest names in world sport. The evening climaxes with the presentation of one of the most coveted awards in sport, which is chosen by viewers live on the night.
This year is the 60th year of the show and this milestone in television history is celebrated in the programme, as amongst the many famous faces in attendance will be a number of the award's great past winners. Last year, cyclist Sir Bradley Wiggins walked away with the famous trophy and described winning it as probably his 'greatest achievement' - as it is the public who decides the winner. Ten contenders will be in with a chance of creating their own piece of history, but only one will be victorious.
In 2013, Britain and British sportsmen and women enjoyed yet more success following on from the highs of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The programme relives all those great moments again, which included a double gold success for Mo Farah at the World Athletics Championships and a Wimbledon victory for Andy Murray, who became the first British men's singles champion on the hallowed Centre Court turf for 77 years.
It was also an incredible year for cyclist Chris Froome, who won the Tour de France and Christine Ohuruogu, who won the 400m title at the World Athletics Championships in Moscow. Leigh Halfpenny was the man-of-the-series in the British and Irish Lions tour victory over Australia and also the Six Nations' Player of the Tournament as Wales sealed a Grand Slam. Another notable team achievement came from England's cricketers - they had a sizzling summer beating Australia 3-0 in the Test series - with man-of-the-series Ian Bell taking a starring role with the bat.
Other notable feats saw wheelchair athlete Hannah Cockroft claim double gold at the IPC World Athletics Championships, golfer Justin Rose win the US Open, sailor Ben Ainslie help Team Oracle to an historic America's Cup victory and triathlete Non Stanford become the best female triathlete on the planet.
The 2013 91热爆 Sports Personality of the Year relives all those great moments plus many more, including Wigan's unique achievement of their football team winning the FA Cup and their rugby league team recording a magnificent Challenge Cup and Super League double. The show also looks back on Manchester United's Premier League title - Sir Alex Ferguson's 13th in an incredible 26 years as manager, plus Europe's Solheim Cup success as they beat the USA for the first time on American soil.
There will be so much more to look back on from a magnificent 2013 and it should be quite a night. As well as the main award of Sports Personality of the Year, other awards include a very special 60th Anniversary Diamond Award, which will honour a true sporting legend. Further awards announced on the night will be the Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, Overseas Sports Personality of the Year, Young Sports Personality of the Year, Sports Unsung Hero and the Helen Rollason Award, which recognises inspirational achievement in the face of adversity.
