Gemma tells the Listeners about Marie Curie the inventor of radium which was then use to make the atomic bomb.
Listeners will learn about her array of accomplishments and think about their own accomplishments.
In the story we hear about Dr Jenny Sullivan who has developed a miracle pill but is beginning to wonder whether her quest to solve world hunger could also be used for negative gain. She looks to Marie Curie, the one who inspired her, for wisdom and is reminded of her great discoveries and how they too have created miracles and monsters. But Marie Curie’s words offer the insight she so needs; “Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.”
