Sir Nicholas Winton
Gemma Hunt finds out about the extraordinary rescue of Jewish children from Czechoslovakia by Sir Nicholas Winton at the start of World War 2.
Gemma Hunt finds out about Sir Nicholas Winton who arranged for Jewish children to escape by train from the Nazi regime in Czechoslovakia just before the start of World War II. Today鈥檚 story is based on the experiences of Milena Fleischmann, one of the children who managed to escape from Prague to London in July 1939. She was one of the lucky ones as another train scheduled to leave Prague after the war had started in September 1939 never set off and all the children aboard were believed to have died.
