James Daunt, Managing Director of Waterstones Booksellers Ltd

James Daunt has been the Managing Director of Waterstones Booksellers Ltd since June 2011.


He鈥檚 also the founder of Daunt Books, an independent bookshop chain with seven branches in London.听


James joined Waterstones following the acquisition of the company by A&NN Group from HMV Group PLC.


Prior to founding Daunt Books in 1990, he spent a brief period as an investment banker with JP Morgan.

John co-founded Leon fast food restaurants in 2004 with his partner Henry Dimbleby. Leon has a mission to 'make it easy for everyone to eat good food'.听


In July听John and Henry听completed the development of the School Food Plan, commissioned by Michael Gove the Secretary of State for Education, and supported by Jamie Oliver and all of the key groups involved in the area of food in schools. They continue to Chair the Expert Panel involved in supporting the implementation of the Plan.


Before Leon, John was at the strategy consulting firm Bain and Company where he worked on a range of growth and turnaround projects for large and small businesses.


John started his career at Procter and Gamble, and was part of the team who turned around the cosmetics brand Max Factor.

Originally from St Petersburg,听Ignaty Dyakov听came to London in 2008, shortly after he established Russia Local Ltd, a language-based consultancy which helps international businesses expand in Russia.

Russian language training is where the company started and is still a core element of the business. Ignaty's clients are now based in the UK, France, Luxembourg, China, Hong Kong and Russia.听

Ignaty is a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurship (UK), Federation of Small Businesses and UK Trade and Investment Advisory Network.

He is married and enjoys reading, playing chess and learning to play golf, travelling and vegetarian cooking.
