A new Which? Campaign is calling for a ban on costly calls for all customer service and complaints telephone lines. It says research shows two thirds of people think companies use a high-rate number to discourage consumers from calling them. Three quarters would be put off phoning customer services if they had to use a high-rate number, and more than sixty per cent would be put off making a complaint.
