The Naughty Boy Story

From Deal or No Deal to Number One - the unique rise of Shahid 'Naughty Boy' Khan.

British Pakistani music producer Naughty Boy (real name Shahid Khan) wrote and produced the biggest selling album of 2012 'Our Version of Events' by Emeli Sande, he has just had a Number 1 hit with single 'Lalala' which is the 2nd fastest selling of 2013 and was top of the Asian Network download chart for 8 weeks.

However, his journey to the top of the UK charts was far from conventional. Whilst working for Domino's pizza in Watford, he secured a grant from the Princes Trust for 拢5,000 and used this money to set up Naughty Boy Recordings. He then went on Channel 4's Deal or No Deal and won 拢44,000 which he used to fund his studio.

This Asian Network special speaks to the artists he has worked with (Emeli, Wretch 32, Bashy, Riz MC, James Arthur) and looks at Naughty Boy's family and home life. We meet the boy from a traditional British Muslim family in Watford and explore his unique rise to the top - despite a music career being the last thing British Asian parents push their children to do.
