In the semis, Germany defeated hosts Sweden to remain on course for a sixth consecutive European Championship title, while Norway squeezed past Denmark in a penalty shootout. Despite Germany's dominance of the women's game in Europe, Norway managed to beat them in 1-0 in the group stage of this tournament - Germany's first European Championship defeat for 20 years.
