Sir John Armitt, Chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority

Sir John Armitt became Chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority on 1 September 2007. He is also Chairman of National Express Group, City and Guilds and is Deputy Chairman of the Berkeley Group. Sir John is also a member of the Board of Transport for London and the Airports Commission.

After leaving John Laing in 1993, where Sir John had been Chairman of Laing's international and civil engineering divisions, he joined Union Railways, the company responsible for development of the high-speed Channel Tunnel Rail Link, as Chief Executive. In 1997 he became Chief Executive of Costain, a position he held until 2001.

Sir John was Chief Executive of Railtrack from 2001 and Chief Executive of Network Rail from 2002 to 2007. He was Chairman of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council until March 2012.

Ìý

Sir John was awarded the CBE in 1996 for his contribution to the rail industry and received a knighthood in the New Year Honours List 2012 for services to engineering and construction.

He won a gold medal with the Great Britain and Northern Ireland squad at theÌý1988 Summer OlympicsÌýinÌýSeoul.

Ian has held a number of honorary roles within sports administration andÌýwas also a commentator for 91Èȱ¬ Sport betweenÌý1988 and 1996.

Under Julie's leadership, D-Drill has won numerous industry accolades including 'The Diamond Award' from the 'International Association of Concrete Drillers and Sawers' (IACDS). In late 2011 Julie was chosen as the Vitalise Businesswoman of the Year.

Russell Plant is the Managing Director and founder of Bluecube, specialising in the design, manufacture and delivery of events seating, including the Olympic Stadium for the London 2012 games.

Russel trained as an industrial designer; completing his MA at the Royal College of Art and spent the early part of his career as a design consultant, working primarily for office furniture manufactures in the United States.

Bluecube recently opened its first international office in Brazil and is contracted to deliver three stadiums in Brazil by the end of 2013, including the opening venue for the 2014 World Cup.

Vitoria is qualified to practice law in Brazil, Portugal and the UK.

She has been an active member of the Anglo Brazilian Society since 2005, the Anglo Colombian Society since 2009, and is currently its chair and part of the steering group of the Legal Committee of the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain. Vitoria also chairs the legal committee of the British and Colombian Chamber of Commerce.
