Rev. Dr Gordon Giles

The Reverend Dr Gordon Giles is Vicar of St Mary Magdalene's Church, Enfield, Middlesex. Between 1998-2003 he was Succentor of St Paul's Cathedral, London. A priest in the Church of England, Gordon Giles writes books on theology and music. He also has a regular column for the RSCM publication Church Music Quarterly.

Dr Robert Beckford
Interview previously broadcast in 鈥淪ongs of Praise: Spirituals鈥 (2012).听 Dr Beckford is currently a reader in Theology at Canterbury Christ Church University and is a well-known British academic, theologian and broadcaster. He was the first ever tutor on Black Theology in the UK at the University of Birmingham back in 2001. Dr Beckford said he鈥檇 define a 鈥榮piritual鈥 as an African-American Christian Hymn; an African American art form rooted in experience.听

Russell Watson
