MPs say three bankers in charge of HBOS when it collapsed should be banned from banking for life. Child heart surgery is to resume at Leeds General Infirmary after mortality fears.

A Parliamentary report into the collapse of Halifax Bank of Scotland in 2008 has heavily criticised three senior executives. The Banking Standards Commission suggests Sir James Crosby, Andy Hornby and Lord Stevenson should be banned from working in the industry again.

Children's heart surgery will resume at Leeds General Infirmary after talks last night. The unit was closed down last week after the NHS Medical Director said data showed mortality figures were higher than expected.

The Labour Party has joined the Foreign Office in calling for Saudi Arabia not to go ahead with the forced paralysis of a man as punishment for stabbing his friend ten years ago. The victim has been in a wheelchair ever since and a judicial order has now called for him to be paralysed as well unless the man, 24, can find 拢180,000 in compensation.
