John Timpson, the boss of high street shoe repair business Timpsons, is in the studio telling us why he's confident people will keep mending things on the high street. We'll ask him if fixing shoes is a bet against consumer culture?

Julie Kenny founded the Rotherham based manufacturers Pyronix in 1987. Now with two factories in South Yorkshire and one in China we'll discuss how you keep jobs local when you're selling global.

And Lee Hopley is the Chief Economist for the EEF. She serves UK Manufacturing by day but this Sunday evening will be in the studio with Declan to cast an eye across the news - from the meat industry to the week's big business mergers.

John Timpson, Chairman of Timpson

John Timpson is the Chairman of Timpson.

The Timpson family business was taken over in 1973, but 10 years later John led a £42m management buyout. In 1987 he sold the shoe shops and concentrated on building the shoe repairing and key cutting business, which has diversified into engraving, watch repairs, dry cleaning and photo processing.

Timpson now has over 900 branches nationwide. It is a private business wholly owned by John Timpson and his family.

Mr Timpson has been married to his wife Alex for 45 years and they live in Cheshire. They have five children Victoria (43), James (41), Edward (39), together with Oliver (37) and Henry (25).

Mr & Mrs Timpson were foster carers for 31 years during which time they fostered 87 children.

Julie is also a Commissioner with the UK Commission for Employment and Skills, and a Board member and Chair of Yorkshire Forward and the British Security Industry Association.

She is an Intervention Commissioner with Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council.

In recognition of her contribution to the region's business and industry, Julie was awarded a CBE in 2002.

Lee Hopley is Chief Economist at EEF, an organisation that supports UK manufacturing, leading their work on economic and industrial policy.

Lee coordinates EEF's work on issues including innovation, investment and energy and oversees the department's economic forecasting.

Ìý

Before joining EEF, Lee worked as an Economic Advisor to the Scottish National Party in both the Scottish Parliament and the House of Commons.
