Contemporary drama. Gary and Lisa are only in their early thirties, but they have been treading water for years. Hapless Gary is completely oblivious, so is distraught when Lisa suddenly announces that she wants a divorce; he thought they were happy, he thought they were going to have kids. His mates tell him that it will all blow over, but Lisa is determined that this is the end. But with each of them unable - or unwilling - to move out, a compromise has to be reached: Lisa will have the upstairs, Gary will have the ground floor, and the kitchen is neutral territory. As time passes and the house doesn't sell, Gary and Lisa become the flat mates from hell. Gary is determined to show Lisa that he is not going to just roll over and put up with this - but when he learns that she has started internet dating, he is devastated. His life is over. Encouraged - against his better judgment - into some dating of his own to make Lisa jealous, the plan backfires spectacularly and Gary is left facing up to some cold, hard truths. Finally deciding to 'man up' and be a good friend to Lisa, the two reluctant housemates get on as never before. They cook for each other, Gary does the cleaning and even drops her off on nights out. His mates are horrified, but Gary has never been happier. So when Gary bumps into Lisa out on a date, he will be able to smile and wish her companion all the best - won't he..?
