40,000 people have registered their interest in volunteering at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, but with only 3 in 10 adults making any kind of volunteering commitment, do we only sign up for high profile events?

Is the time and commitment needed for long term volunteering simply too much of an ask for most of us? Or is it time we all stepped up to the volunteering plate and gave some of our time to good causes?
