Alfie Boe
Episode 1 of 5
Fern Britton speaks to opera singer Alfie Boe, who went from once having to sleep on a park bench to singing from the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
Alfie Boe, the opera singer who sang from the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, used to polish cars on a factory production line. Now he's internationally known and has performed on some of the world's most famous stages. Fern meets Alfie and finds out how he was once so hard up, he had to sleep on a park bench. As his friend Matt Lucas says: It's a very romantic story. Something of the Billy Elliot about it.
