A piece of bad news tests Bob and Stella's marriage. Raymond makes a dangerous new friend. What lengths will Hayley go to in her pursuit for true love?
Wee Bob sets off confidently to get his fertility test results and decides not to bother Stella with it. But he is totally floored when Miriam reveals that he should prepare himself for the fact that he might never be a father. Stunned, Bob stumbles back out into a world that seems overrun with kids and tries to talk to Stella. He's frustrated when she can't spare a minute but agrees to meet her later at the garage. Jimmy and Stevie drop off a broken cab with Bob who is humiliated when Stevie saves him from harming himself with tow bar. When Stella turns up fussing over his nephew Callum, a heartbroken Bob can't face telling her the truth and throws himself into researching a solution. Determined to talk to Dr Miriam again, Bob makes another attempt to tell Stella at the Ship, only to find Stevie flirting with her which throws Bob into a fit of jealousy. Embarrassed by Bob's outburst, Stella goes to apologise to Stevie. Scarlett senses something is amiss and demands to know what's wrong. Bob can't keep it to himself anymore and tells Scarlett he's the reason Stella can't get pregnant. Shocked, Scarlett promises not to tell a soul but ends up letting it slip to Stella. Stella furiously confronts Bob. How could he tell his Scarlett before he told her? Bob tries to apologise and presents a shaken Stella with all their possible options. But Stella is so incensed by his behaviour she can't even speak to him and marches off. Determined, Bob heads off alone to speak to Miriam about their chances only to be confronted with a reality check. It could be years before they get IVF and it will be exhausting and painful for both of them. Are Bob and Stella up for it? Meanwhile, a distraught Stella speaks with Deek and breaks the news to him. They won't be having kids after all but she hides the truth about Bob. She heads back to her flat and tearfully looks over her collection of baby items. Still in search of Stella, Bob heads to the Ship but becomes paranoid that everybody knows his business. Bob tries to escape the prying eyes but meets Molly who presents him with special ale to help his issue of 'firing blanks'. Bob is at the end of his tether when Stevie makes the wrong comment at the wrong time prompting Bob to fly at him. The two men continue to fight before Will manages to separate the two but not before Stella witnesses Bob brawling in the street and heads home disappointed. Catching up with her at the flat, Bob apologies again and gently suggests perhaps she should look for someone else if a family is what she really wants. A resigned Stella tells him she wants him and no-one else - they will get through this together. But what's the future got in store for them?
Hayley is surprised when a big bouquet of flowers arrives from Tom and ignores Robbie and Kelly Marie's gossiping. She's delighted when Tom reveals that he's been offered a big promotion. The bubble soon bursts when he tells her that it's down in Brighton and asks her to go with him. Hayley has to weigh up her options. Is this the right decision for her? Liz and Malcolm help her see that she really does love Tom. But does he really love her back? She gets her answer when she hears that he has decided to turn down the job to stay with her. Rushing to stop him just in time, she promises to follow him anywhere. Over the moon, Tom accepts the job.
Raymond is irritated by the complete faff surrounding Malcolm's party preparations at the Ship, especially when Eileen finds the efforts of Stevie and Stella unacceptable and puts Zinnie in charge. When Lenny turns up and complains about the lack of service, Raymond is ready to thump him until Stevie steps in as peacemaker. Exasperated, Raymond finds an unlikely pal in Sean who buys him a drink and shares a moan about Lenny. Gabriel clocks Sean's uncharacteristic friendliness and can't help being suspicious. What is Sean up to?
