The internationally renowned Scots violinist, Nicola Benedetti, has voiced concerns about the future of musical tuition in schools, in the face of spending cuts. In an interview with the Radio Times she said she's "fiercely furious about the provision of music in schools" and that young people need a cultural identity to replace their obsession with celebrities.

Kaye Adams hears from the head of a school for musical excellence who says Scottish schools are failing pupils. He's exasperated with people pitting subjects against each other claiming they're more important - for some kids, music is the most important thing in their lives.
