* British aid worker, Helen Johnston, who was being held hostage in a cave in northern Afghanistan has been freed in an early morning raid by international forces. She was kidnapped last week along with three of her colleagues.

* The verdict in the trial of the former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak is due. He's accused of ordering the killing of hundreds of people during the protests which ousted him last year.

* The government's putting forward proposals to scrap council tax on "Granny" flats in England. It says up to 300,000 families could benefit from the idea.
