What's it really like in prison?

New prison HMP Lowmoss in Bishopbriggs is due to open next month, and construction of a new superprison, HMP Grampian, will begin this summer. An artist's impression of the latter has been likened to a 5 star hotel, but should life in prison mean a bed, a pot to pee in, and bread and water, or is it right for prisoners to expect a decent level of comfort?

Should you expect to have 24/7 medical cover if you live in the country?

Medical cover in West Ardnamurchan is being reorganised by NHS Highland. Residents there are up in arms about the changes, saying they are being left exposed and without adequate out of hours and emergency care.

Rural and remote medical access has always had it's problems but worried residents in the West Ardnamurchan peninsula say they are now in dire straits when it comes to round the clock cover. As the NHS try to reorganise the current system, those living there say they are scared with how little they'll be left with in terms of district nursing, out of hours care and emergency response. And they aren't alone - residents of Drumnadrochit and Glenelg are also worried about a reduced level of cover.

But given the small populations in these areas (Ardnamurchan only has a population of around 300 compared to around 60K in Inverness), can those living in remote and rural areas expect to have round the clock cover? Or should they just have to accept that living in such areas means reduced access to medical care?
