Suzi Quatro goes in search of Janis Joplin, the blues-influenced wild woman of rock'n'roll, who wowed the crowds at Monterey and Woodstock, but died of an accidental drugs overdose on 4 October 1970.

Though only 27 when she died, Janis left an enduring legacy, and she's influenced many subsequent artists, including female performers like Melissa Etheridge, Alicia Keys and Beth Ditto.

In this programme Suzi talks to Janis' lovers, friends, family and fellow musicians to uncover the real woman behind the image; contributors include Alice Cooper, drummer Dave Getz, biographer and friend David Dalton, record company boss Clive Davis, producer Bruce Botnick and more.

The programme also contains an exclusive recording of Janis herself, relaxing and chatting with friends while travelling between gigs, which has never been heard in public before.
