The Exile
The Exile is an exciting musical journey of emigration and cross-culture. Featuring four movements, three languages, two choirs, as well as soloists and a solid backing band, the piece explores the link between two minority emigrant cultures through "Call-and-response" song.
The Journey (An Turas)
The emigration of the Gael: This piece was inspired by Gaelic Psalms, Negro Spirituals and the writing of Frank McCourt.
The Wolof Journey
This piece focuses on the emigration of the Wolof people of Senegal.
The Ground (An TÃ lamh)
The arrival of emigrants to a new land, the struggle to find work, survival and the coming together of cultures. This trilingual piece was inspired by "Call- and- response" and work songs from around the globe, drawing from the Gaelic tradition, West Africa, and old Negro Spirituals.
The Exile (Am Fògarrach)
The final piece focuses on the positive aspects arising from a people in exile in another land, with reference to other exiled peoples of the world across the centuries.
