As one Scottish primary asks parents to buy pupils iPads, are we being asked to shell out too much for schools? And should women be allowed to choose a caesarean section?
Are schools asking parents for too much money?
Kingswells Nursery School in Aberdeen are to ask parents to buy or lease an iPad2 for their children as part of a pilot scheme which, if successful, might be rolled out across other schools
Kaye asks...if schools want us to buy iPads, what's next? Is there a danger that schools will create a two-tier education system by asking parents to buy equipment - okay if you can afford it, but maybe not if you're on a low income. And isn't education supposed to be free in Scotland, is this just the beginning of a slippery slope of parental financial contribution to your child's education? Or is it a good idea to make a decent sized financial contribution to useful educational tools?
And
Should you be allowed to choose a C-section if there is no medical reason for one?
Women in England and Wales are to be allowed to request a Caesarean section under new NHS guidelines, and one in four of Scotland's babies are born by section. But should women be allowed to request a C-Section on the NHS even if there's no medical reason to have one? And why are we so sniffy about women who choose a C-section?
