Frances increases her efforts to get close to Lenny, but finds that Jack stands in her way. How long will Tattie be able to keep the secret of her baby's paternity from Bob?
DI Donald is putting pressure on Frances to keep her eyes peeled for any dodgy business from Lenny, but a meeting with her mother, Agnes, tells us that prison is the last place the McCabes want to put Lenny Murdoch. Agnes wants to make Lenny suffer, and that means no cops - Frances daren't tell her mother about her agreement with DI Donald.
Meanwhile, Jack arrives back from holiday to find that Hayley is taking Frances's sexual harassment allegations seriously. Jack can't believe it and confronts Frances only for Hayley to see the altercation and misconstrue it, making things worse for Jack. Jack's luck completely runs out when Frances tells Lenny that she's being harassed. And when Lenny roughs Jack up, Jack is left sore and at a low ebb.
However, Gina takes pity on Jack, and tends to his wounds, and even Murray sympathises with him and the three end up drowning their sorrows into the night.
As Frances prepares for dinner with Lenny, DI Donald shows up unannounced and puts extra pressure on her to ensure she toes the line in her capacity as an informant. When Lenny eventually turns up, Frances uses her feminine wiles to get closer to him than she's ever been before, and even though it disgusts her, she sleeps with him - there's no turning back now.
The next day Jack pre-empts any disciplinary action from Hayley by resigning - Jack Paterson leaves Shieldinch and heads off to London to be nearer his son.
Elsewhere, it's the day of Tattie's anomaly scan and Big Bob decides to buy a present for her and the baby and nearly misses their appointment.
However, when they have the scan they are given the devastating news that the baby is dead. The couple are heartbroken. Amidst the grief, Bob is blaming himself, thinking there must be something wrong with him - after all Tattie's already had a perfectly healthy child in Christina.
Tattie can't bear to see Bob suffer, and - despite Christina's protests - she tells Bob that the baby wasn't his. Bob doesn't take the news well and is left feeling lost.
