Struggling to fix the sickly US economy, President Barack Obama appealed to Congress to support nearly $450 billion in tax cuts and federal spending. His message to Republican lawmakers heading into re-election campaigns: you'd better help. But is this attempt to give the US economy a shot in the arm effective? Carl Weinberg, chief economist at High Frequency Economics, evaluates. Super dairies, an intensive and controversial method used to milk thousands of cows, has been criticised by a new report, claiming its production isn't cost effective. We find out more from Neil Darwent who wrote the report. Finally we look ahead to the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York as well as the papers and markets.
