Pat is forced to swallow her pride and to appeal to Norman in order to prevent Ricky's imminent departure. Janine is livid to discover that her dreams might come to nothing.
Pat’s horrified to discover Ricky’s leaving today for a job in Dubai for 6 months. Ricky’s adamant he has to go for the kids’ sake; they need the money now that Norman’s contesting Lydia’s will. Pat’s determined to change Norman’s mind. He initially refuses, the money will make up for the cruel way Lydia treated him. Later, thinking of the support Frank gave him, Norman agrees not to contest the will to help Ricky. Janine’s irritated that Pat thinks Norman has more right to Lydia’s money than her and accuses Pat of neglecting her as a child. Janine agrees to share the money with Ricky – if Pat begs. Desperate, Pat’s starting to beg when Ricky walks in. Janine insists she was joking and offers him £100,000. Appalled that Janine’s made Pat beg, Ricky’s adamant he wants nothing from her. Insisting all his kids need is love, he gets into a taxi for the airport. Pat thinks Frank would be proud of Ricky, but rounds on Janine – as far as she’s concerned Janine doesn’t exist. The cab pulls away as Ricky tearfully waves goodbye.
Tanya avoids Greg’s attempts to talk about having children, and is annoyed to discover Greg’s been researching IVF treatment.
Jay’s bought a motorbike. Jay and Abi reconcile after admitting they miss each other. Jay assures Abi that Lola’s not the kind of girl he wants as his girlfriend. Abi tells Jay she’s ready to be together properly, and offers to get condoms.
Hung-over Fatboy wakes on Dot’s sofa having crashed in drunk in the middle of the night, crying about Mercy. He decides to move into Dot’s – the flat reminds him too much of Mercy.
Denise’s worried when Tanya and Rainie tease her about her friendship with Ian. Ian assures he thinks of her as ‘one of the guys’.
