With building societies gathering today for their annual conference, there are calls for Northern Rock to be returned to the mutual sector. We talk to David Webster, chairman of Hanley Economic Building Society, who says building societies have the opportunity of a lifetime to prove their importance.
Finally, the Financial Reporting Council is consulting on whether companies should publish their policy on getting more women into the boardroom. Will the changes encourage more gender diversity? We speak to Chris Hodge, head of corporate governance at the FRC. George Godber also joins us to discuss the markets.
