Leo's mental and physical health deteriorates. Big Bob becomes a pariah following his arrest for curb crawling. Andy is offered a job in Dubai - but will he accept it?
Leo wakens from a bad dream on Hayley's sofa. He's not in a good way and is becoming increasingly dependent on his painkillers. He lies to Hayley that he's told his family that he's safe and well.
Meanwhile, Michael and Gabriel are at odds over Leo's AWOL status - Michael is concerned but Gabriel is happy that Leo has finally escaped the shackles of the army. They bump into Hayley and ask if she knows anything but she lies as they see two military policemen strolling the streets. Hayley goes to confront Leo about his lies but discovers an even bigger deception - he's planning on running out on her and back to Afghanistan. Realising she is unable to change his mind, Hayley tells Leo to come home safe.
Hiding from the Military Police, Leo enlists Conor and Adeeb to help him escape. Conor is keen but Adeeb is worried for Leo and runs for help. Michael only just manages to stop Leo getting away and the Brodie men help Leo into the house. Leyla, however, isn't so keen to see Leo on her sofa. She is furious that Leo has his brothers at his beck and call and that Michael has written a prescription for him - it's unethical. She storms out. Michael goes after her and they fight. As Michael goes to the surgery to rearrange his schedule, Leyla makes a call to the Military Police. When the MPs turn up at the house, Leo knows for sure who has called them.
Hayley seeks Jimmy's help in finding a lawyer for Leo then both she and Michael lie, swearing that Leo fully intended to turn himself in. Michael's testimony swings it for Leo and he is freed on the proviso that he stays with Michael so that he can be monitored. When they arrive back, Michael is puzzled by Leo's downbeat attitude. Michael pushes Leo to reveal the truth behind his actions. Leo tells him that while out on patrol he shot someone whom he presumed to be a sniper but later discovered it was a child. He breaks down crying. Michael reassures Leo that he's done nothing wrong - these things happen at war. The others return home and Gabriel takes Leo to the pub for a drink. Michael explains to Leyla that Leo will be staying with them for a while, news which Leyla takes better than Michael expected. Having a drink in the bar, Leo and Gabriel are joined by Michael and Leyla. Privately, Leo lets on to Leyla that he knows it was her who turned him in.
Scarlett and Jimmy persuade Big Bob to stop moping and get back out into the real world. It's not easy but Bob gives it his best shot. Molly then announces that they are all going for a drink that evening as a show of solidarity. Jimmy, Molly, Theresa and Bob put on a united front with Big Bob in the Tall Ship, despite disapproving comments from Liz. As Big Bob leaves the pub he sees Iona locking up the Deli. They both ignore one another despite the fact it's making them both miserable.
Ruth is taking Eilidh's health very seriously and believes her new regime is helping. Andy isn't so sure but Ruth doesn't want to hear his opinion. Nor does she want to hear about his possible job in Dubai. Scott bumps into Ruth and Eilidh on the street where he reveals he knows about Andy's Dubai plans - Ruth is upset by this, but more so that she thinks Eilidh is becoming ill again. Scott finds Andy in the pub, he's in the mood to celebrate because the interview went really well but Scott counsels that, with Eilidh still sick, perhaps now isn't the best time to be taking a job overseas. Andy returns home to find an increasingly paranoid Ruth now insisting that he shower and change before he sees Eilidh in future.
