Claudio Abbado's celebrated recording of The Magic Flute K. 620, with Ren茅 Pape as Sarastro, Christoph Strehl as Tamino, Dorothea R枚schmann as Pamina and Hanno M眉ller-Brachmann as Papageno. The queen of the night is interpreted by Erika Mik贸sa.

When Tamino, a young prince, finds himself lost and pursued by a snake, he invokes the mercy of the gods, and faints. Three veiled maidens appear, and quickly notice how sweet and handsome the young man is. They compete amongst themselves for the pleasure of looking after him - and so begins Mozart's final opera, a mix of both philosophical parable and music-hall comedy.
