Live from Belfast as snow causes big disruption. Is enough done to keep the UK moving?

Stephen Nolan broadcasts live from Belfast as heavy snow and ice cause big disruption across much of the UK.

Conditions in places are said to be the worst in 25 years.

He asks whether enough is being done to keep the UK moving, and how the vulnerable are coping with the cold weather. Should the authorities take some responsibility for the massive delays, or should motorists themselves shoulder some of the blame for going out at all?

John Caldwell from the Highways Agency says they've been doing the best they can, while motoring journalist Steve Berry and accident investigator and former police officer Doug Bolton take the point about responsibility further.

And Louise Ellman, chair of the Commons Transport Select Committee, gives her assessment of the situation in the second hour.

Away from the snow, Prime Minister David Cameron has warned that banks could face higher taxes if they hand out huge bonuses to bankers in the New Year. So are the PM and Deputy PM right to warn the bankers over possible bonuses? Or do they have every right to pay what they want? Is there a danger of hounding bankers out of the country?

Former politician and 5 live presenter Edwina Currie reviews the papers with Hazel Blears, 5 live's Colin Patterson talks to Aussie cricket fans live from Perth, and the Aussie bookie who paid out $400,000 to punters who backed England to regain the ashes - the day before Mitchell Johnson started destroying Strauss's side.
