A surprise High Court ruling appears to push pension schemes to the front of the line when it comes to claims on the assets of failed companies. We speak to Jennifer Marshall, a partner in the Restructuring Group at the law firm Allen and Overy.

The Bank of England has just concluded that the dominant reason for the drying up of new loans is a lack of supply of credit by the banks, not a lack of demand. Today, HSBC is launching a new Business Panel to create a dialogue between banks and businesses to encourage them to grow. We ask Noel Quinn, head of UK commercial banking at HSBC, how the panel works and what banks are doing to help businesses.
